danial iqbal

this is danial iqbal.
among all my anak anak saudara (note: anak anak my sepupu), iqbal is the one that i love most.
iqbal mengajar ayu personally the meaning of life.
the meaning of grateful. (Alhamdulillah)

this special handsome boy.
pengarang jantung kami sekeluarga.
even my bothDs love their abang Iqbal so much.
they truly understand 'abang Iqbal' 'sakit' and selalu beralah or give ways to Iqbal.
yes, Iqbal is a down syndrom kid.

dugaan memang hebat masa kami semua tahu Iqbal lahir sedemikian.
but Alhamdulillah, kami semua sedar yang Allah dah create a very beautiful episode to us as kami berpeluang untuk mempunyai seorang ahli syurga di dalam ahli keluarga kami.
dugaan tetap akan ada.
satu demi satu.
but semua itu hilang bila tengok Iqbal today.
he finally can walk by himself.
can even wear his own shoes.
and we can understand what he wanted.

yes, his down syndrome stage agak teruk. he can hardly stand apatah lagi berjalan. nak duduk pun susah dulu.
but lepas a lot of treatment, lepas pergi school, lepas segala usaha yang tak putus2 dek my cousin yang sangat cekal...
alhamdulillah.. we are all very proud of his improvement, today.
but satu jer..
his epilepsy.

kalau datang sawan ni, kesian ok.
contoh kalau dia kat lantai. bila kena attack, dia boleh terhentak and terhantuk kat lantai sampai bengkak2 kepala.
kalai tercucuk mata ke apa.. lebam lebam la mata.
bukan sekali dua ok.
kadang2 sampai dua kali seminggu.

dan, inilah sebabnya entry ni ditulis.
sebab ayu nak share dengan sesiapa yang baca on the diet yang Iqbal kena amalkan.
it is called the ketogenic diet.

sebab musabab?
kerana epilepsy tu, Iqbal kena makan banyak ubat.
bila banyak consume ubat, means, Iqbal consume drugs la kan?
ubat kan drugs.
this diet boleh reduce the drugs consumption la untuk dia.
insyaAllah.
kami semua pun baru tau pasal ni. kita sama2 belajar information baru lah ek?

this is what i got from the Epilepsy Foundation's web.

The ketogenic diet, which is very high in fats and low in carbohydrates, was first developed almost 80 years ago. It makes the body burn fat for energy instead of glucose. When carefully monitored by a medical team familiar with its use, the diet helps two out of three children who are tried on it and may prevent seizures completely in one out of three. It is a strict diet, and takes a strong commitment from the whole family. The ketogenic diet is not a do-it-yourself diet. It is a serious form of treatment that, like other therapies for epilepsy, has some side effects that have to be watched for. More research is being done to learn about the underlying reasons for the diet's positive effect.

Normally, our bodies run on energy from glucose, which we get from food. We can't store large amounts of glucose, however. We only have about a 24-hour supply.
When a child has no food for 24 hours -- which is the way the diet begins, usually in a hospital -- he or she uses up all the stored glucose. With no more glucose to provide energy, the child's body begins to burn stored fat.
The ketogenic diet keeps this process going.
It forces the child's body to burn fat round the clock by keeping calories low and making fat products the primary food that the child is getting.
In fact, the diet gets most (80 percent) of its calories from fat. The rest comes from carbohydrates and protein.
Each meal has about four times as much fat as protein or carbohydrate. The amounts of food and liquid at each meal have to be carefully worked out and weighed for each person.
Doctors don't know precisely why a diet that mimics starvation by burning fat for energy should prevent seizures, although this is being studied. Nor do they know why the same diet works for some children and not for others.

dengar bunyi macam menarik untuk kita sendiri jugak kan?
because the diet in a ways teaches our body to burn the fat as energy and not to glucose.

ayu harap this entry will help us all IF one day kita semua memerlukannya.
insyaAllah...
